The Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is participating in the 34th Traffic Week with an awareness pavilion titled ‘Policeman my friend’. It aims to enhance community outreach, especially with younger groups, raising the level of traffic awareness and knowledge of road safety procedures and means, an MoI report states. The pavilion has been receiving a steady stream of visitors and provides ample space for children, highlighting a number of traffic safety issues and providing information to them on the rules to be followed so that they become familiar with what constitutes correct road behaviour that will help preserve their safety and security and protect against traffic risks, the report points out.
Children are being trained on the safe use of bicycles, focusing on basic and correct steps to avoid falls or small wounds. The pavilion is also hosting awareness competitions with prizes.
A number of visitors to the pavilion expressed happiness at the awareness programmes of the Public Relations Department, stressing its role in promoting awareness and safety among the community.
