The State of Qatar, represented by the youth affairs department in the Ministry of Culture and Sports, participated in the Steering Group Meeting held between Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), which was held in Paris.
Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), head of the youth affairs department, Abdulrahman al-Hajri and the representative of Qatar at the meeting said the meeting discussed a number of topics including the youth situation in the Mena region, and the methods to include them in the public life and decision-making. It also discussed the work on ensuring equality between men and women in the region, which is empowering women in all fields, as well as the economic situation in the region, he added.
Al-Hajri added that the statistics presented during the meeting revealed Qatar’s advanced position in the mentioned topics, where it ranked second in the Mena region and the 23rd globally in competitiveness. Qatar also ranked second in the same group in the field of free economies and 29th globally, he said.
Established in 1961, OECD has 34 member states and aims to help countries increase economic growth and employment, and increase trade between member and non-member countries. — QNA
