The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), in co-operation with Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB), have announced that the AAB Treasure Hunt 2018 will be launched on March 23.
The treasure hunt is the first such activity of its type in the country, the MME has said in a statement.
The announcement was made at New Salata Park yesterday in the presence of Mohamed Ali al-Khouri, director of the MME’s Public Parks Department, and R K Murugan, AAB’s acting chief executive and chief operating officer (Automotive Division), in the presence of representatives from the ministry and the company.
AAB is the exclusive dealer of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar.
The activity is part of efforts undertaken to enhance ties between the MME and the private sector and also serves as a corporate social responsibility initiative.
It also aims at raising awareness about the importance of following safety rules by road users.
The competition will take place at the Al Thumama, Al Dafna, Al Gharafa, Abu Samra, Khalifa, and Al Qutaifiya public parks.
The activity entails the participation of around 25-30 vehicles, with each having 2-4 participants.
The participants will be divided into teams at the various parks at the start of the treasure hunt.
They will be evaluated based on the time they spend in answering the questions and carrying out the activities at all the designated parks.
The winners will be announced at the same day of the competition and prizes will be given out accordingly.
Al-Khouri thanked all those involved in organising the activity for the second consecutive year.
The ministry official noted that the initiative is more than just a competition; he said it is also an introduction to the importance of parks and embracing nature.
He said the recent launch of an environment-friendly electric vehicle is considered an important initiative to maintain a clean environment.
