Musawar rattled United Challengers with his five-wicket burst and enabled Khetco to land the Qatar Airways Twenty20 Cricket Division A Tournament title with a splendid 22-run triumph in the final.
Batting first after calling the coin right, Khetco piled up an imposing 190 for seven in 20 overs. Jamil’s half-century and a racy 40 by Naveed lent the team’s total solidity.
While Jamil smashed a six and six boundaries in his 50-ball 55, Naveed was in rampaging form and belted three sixes and four boundaries in his 22-ball cameo.
Though expensive, Imran turned out to be the most successful bowler for United Challengers, picking three scalps for 33 in three overs.
United Challengers could not mount a serious challenge and managed only 168 for nine in 20 overs. It was Musawar, who dealt out blows regularly to derail their chase. His five for 33 in four overs got a good support from Naveed, who grabbed two for 31.
Ahnaf made 36 with the help of two sixes and five fours in 15 balls and Rifan hit run-a-ball 27, which included a six and two fours.
Musawar was duly adjudged the Man of the Final for his decisive bowling.
Gul Khan Jadoun, QCA’s Head of Domestic Cricket, was the chief guest at the final and gave away the prizes.
