The second day of Empower Youth Conference 2018, Qatar’s largest annual youth gathering, was packed with activities for the 450 participants yesterday. 
There were insightful practical sessions in the form of workshops, panel discussions and inspirational speeches by influential personalities. 
Organised by Education Above All (EAA) Foundation’s programme, Reach Out To Asia (Rota), the conference yesterday saw an interactive activity on the objectives of sustainable development, especially the fourth goal of education, where each group was asked to study the issue and propose solutions from a youth perspective, followed by a variety of workshops. 
A 20-minute short film Al-Johara by Nora al-Subai, Qatari writer and director, was screened. Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy’s community engagement manager Khalid al-Jumaily gave a presentation titled, ‘Journey To Amazing.’ Aisha al-Khaldi and Aisha al-Muftah made a presentation on ‘Vendstation Stationery’ to encourage youth to innovate and become entrepreneurs.
The main panel discussion on ‘Youth Empowerment Key Opportunities and Challenges’, saw different topics addressed. Rota youth advisory board member Anas Ghanim, who was the moderator, spoke on ‘Global Citizenship and the Sustainable Development Goals’, while Elizabeth Ann Koenig, professional development director of National Youth leadership council enlightened the audience on ‘Service Learning’. Tariq Bekri, Rota’s international programmes specialist, elaborated on ‘Youth Empowerment and Promoting Youth Voice’ and Mohamed al-Jufairi, youth leadership expert, shared his experiences on ‘Leadership’. The second day also deciphered on the inspiring success stories and achievements by artist and social-media influencer Abdul Hameed al-Siddiqi; Ruqaya al-Saada, entrepreneurship adviser at Bedaya Centre and co-founder of Rwaq; and Salman al-Khanji, first Qatari Strava. The event concludes today.
