A one day interaction programme was recently organised by the Nepali embassy with the aim to bolster economic diplomacy, trade, investment, tourism and labour migration as a part of foreign policy measures carried out by the embassy.
Qatar has different Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the country. In SEZs, foreign companies can invest without being worried about taxes for ten years, and, import and export of raw materials have reduced taxes. During the programme, Business Analyst Samir Shaikh, a representative from SEZs Ministry of Economy and Commerce Qatar, discussed probable sectors where investments could be made under the SEZs scheme. He also highlighted SEZs modalities, legal procedures and structures. He requested Nepali investors to be a part of futuristic SEZ projects.
Ambassador of Nepal Prof Dr Ramesh Prasad Koirala reiterated the need for bilateral investment on tourism and labour migration. The programme was attended by Nepali entrepreneurs, bankers and journalists. — Text and photo by Usha Wagle Gautam
