The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will divert traffic on the exit ramp and lanes southeast of Umm Lekhba Interchange, from Doha towards Al Markhiya Street, from March 17.

The diversion, which is required to enable the construction of multiple bridges on the Umm Lekhba Interchange, will be carried out in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has said in a press statement.

During the closure, those using Al Shamal Road from Doha Umm Lekhba Interchange are requested to follow the directions to alternative routes in Madinat Khalifa North, which will lead them to Al Markhiya Street through Al Ruwais Street and Dahl Al Hamam Street (as shown on the attached map).

A new traffic signal will be placed at the intersection of Dahl Al Hamam Street with Al Markhiya Street, Ashghal has said. Road users wishing to continue on Al Markhiya Street can turn right from the signal or left to reach Al Hana Street.

The authority has said it will instal road signs advising motorists of the detour. It has also requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
