HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud met a Canadian parliamentary delegation in Doha yesterday. The delegation is led by the Member of the Canadian House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and
International Development Borys Wrzesnewskyj. The meeting discussed the parliamentary relations between Qatar and Canada as well as ways to develop them. During the meeting, they also discussed the unjust siege imposed on Qatar. The Advisory Council Speaker
explained how the siege violates the international law and principles of good-neighbourliness. He also explained that the resulting
tensions in the region are unjustified, because of the vague arguments and false accusations. The Canadian delegation conveyed its
rejection of the siege and its full understanding of Qatar’s stance and called for dialogue to resolve the conflict. The delegation also urged the immediate lifting of the siege and stressed its keenness to convey a true picture of its negative effects, to the Canadian parliament.
