HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, yesterday received a phone call from British Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson. During the call, the two sides reviewed means of enhancing military ties between the two countries, in addition to discussing the latest developments of the Gulf crisis.

Attorney General meets UN official in Geneva
Attorney General and Chairman of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre (ROLACC), Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri, yesterday met with Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva, Michael Moller. They discussed co-operation between the UN Office and ROLACC in addition to the possibilities for joint co-operation in international anti-corruption activity. The two sides also discussed issues of common interest.

Films by Qataris to be screened at Qumra
Highlighting the evolution of the country’s film scene, Qatari talents are marking a significant participation at Qumra 2018, the fourth annual industry event by the Doha Film Institute (DFI), which begins today. The event is being held until March 14 at Souq Waqif and the Museum of Islamic Art. This year, in addition to 11 short films by Qatari talents, three feature narratives in development stage are among the 34 Qumra projects to be nurtured by the Qumra Masters and industry professionals. Four films by Qatar-based talents – including three by Qatari nationals – are being screened as part of the New Voices in Cinema section. The screenings are open to the public and will be followed by a question and answer session with the talents associated with the films. “We are exceptionally proud of the strong participation by Qatari projects at Qumra this year,” DFI CEO Fatma al-Remaihi said.
