Four Qadsia SC footballers and Kuwait national football teammates Abdulaziz al-Meshaan, Ahmed al-Dhafiri, Saif al-Hashan, Saleh Sheikh al-Hendi and Soud al-Mejmed have successfully completed comprehensive treatment programmes at Qatar’s world renowned orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, Aspetar.
On the side-lines of his visit, former RE Mouscron (Belgium) and 1 FK Pribram (Czech Republic) midfielder al-Meshaan praised Aspetar’s facilities, saying: “My first visit was back in 2007, shortly after Aspetar was established, when I became the first player outside Qatar to be treated at the hospital. I am still as impressed today with their facilities and treatments as I was over 11 years ago.
“The MRIs show that I unfortunately have a small tear in my Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), but my doctors and physiotherapists are doing an excellent job and I already feel much better than I did when I came last week. My medical team expect I’ll return to play within a week or two.”
He added: “I came back to Aspetar because of its world-class facilities and services. I’ve been to hospitals in countries like the US and France, and honestly, I haven’t seen a hospital as comprehensive as Aspetar. International clubs testify to this when they send their players to be treated here, because they’re confident Aspetar will bring their players back to their pre-injury state as quickly and as safely as possible.”
Speaking about Qatar as a host nation for the 2022 World Cup, al-Enezi remarked: “Everyone [must be] proud to have an Arab country host the FIFA World Cup for the first time. For me, the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar will be different from what we’ve seen with past tournaments and I am sure it will showcase the region for all its positives. Qatar started preparing for the tournament years ago and I expect (come 2022) it’ll make every Arab proud.”
Aspetar boasts one of the most advanced medical departments in the region, which is integral to the hospital’s multidisciplinary approach to athlete management. Aspetar’s method focuses on assessment and treatment of injured athletes by implementing personalised injury treatment programmes, including the hamstring protocol.
Utilising an evidence-based model, Aspetar’s experienced practitioners aim to return patients to their pre-injury lifestyle as quickly and safely as possible with a proven track record of treating regional and international athletes.
