The Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) recently signed an internship partnership with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group’s (MUFG) banking arm — The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, to host three Kawader internships at their Asian offices in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
The agreement is an extension of partnership wherein MUFG in 2015 hosted interns at their London offices.
MUFG was the first organisation to open the international platform for the Kawader programme. This year, they offered placements in their Asian market.
BTMU’s focus was to enhance knowledge and further support beyond border relationship between MUFG and Qatar.
QFBA acting CEO Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Emadi said: “QFBA’s partnership with MUFG is in line with the academy’s mandate of building a well-qualified human capital base that supports the financial sector in the country and the region, while bolstering its effective contribution to the realisation of a knowledge-based economy under the umbrella of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He added: “On the industry level, this will raise the skills and knowledge of the human capital in the banking industry, and will match the sector’s training qualifications with the evolving job market needs. The individuals and organisations in Qatar will get to benefit from a higher standard of service that better caters to their banking needs.“This initiative creates a win-win situation for all parties involved and opens up a whole world of opportunities in the industry. MUFG has proven to be a great partner adding substantial value to the Kawader programme with its well-structured and thought out internship experience for the Kawader intern.”
Katanori Otsuji, GM BTMU Doha Office, said: “We are honoured to have supported the Kawader programme since its very beginning by hosting Qatari students in our global offices for internships, including London and various Asian countries.”
He added, “We are always impressed by the enthusiasm and competence of the students who join our teams and manage to make a lasting impression within a short space of time.
“We wish to congratulate the QFBA on the excellent work they are doing to develop Qatari talent through this outstanding training programme and we are committed to maintaining our partnership with Kawader for years to come.”
The Kawader programme is an initiative aimed at providing state-of-the-art professional experiences to enhance the collaboration between the financial and academic sectors.
The internship period is for at least four weeks with full hands-on training.
MUFG has already hosted four Kawader cohorts and is keen on continuing the successful partnership. The recent MUFG Asia coverage offered was Singapore internship in Project Finance – Asian Investment Banking Division (AIBD), Malaysia internship in International Currency Business Unit – Islamic Banking (IB) and Hong Kong internship in Global Market Division East Asia (GMDEA).These offices worked in full co-operation to support the expansion of the project with the target to enhance local business networks into Asia through MUFG.
