Qatar Airways Group held its annual Fire Safety Week for the third consecutive year, demonstrating its commitment to the safety of its staff and families from fire.
The event, held at the airline’s Oryx International School campus, witnessed live and static fire-safety displays and activities, which were presented to children by Qatar Airways Group safety team members and fire safety trainers.
“We value the safety of our staff and their families above all. For this reason, we have expended great energy to ensure the fire safety message reaches as many homes and families as possible through this very worthwhile annual event,” Qatar Airways’ Human Resources senior vice president Nabeela Fakhri said.
A key activity of every Fire Safety week is the annual Fire Safety poster competition, according to Qatar Airways. The annual awards for the winners has become the launch event and the much-anticipated highlight of the week.

“This is a great event that we are delighted to host. All our children need to learn the lessons of fire safety while they are young and take them into adulthood,” Oryx International School principal Jarlath Madine said.
The official added that they want to remain an active part of the initiative after moving to their new, purpose-built campus in Barwa due to open later this year.
As one of Qatar’s leading employers, Qatar Airways Group provides more than 10,000 accommodation units for staff members and their families in Doha.
While Fire Safety Week is an initiative of Qatar Airways Group Safety and Security Division, all departments are encouraged to be actively involved in making Fire Safety Week an engaging and rewarding part of the airline’s community and workplace safety activities.
In support of this, Qatar Airways Talent Development department’s Fire Safety trainers, all of whom are former professional firefighters, conducted a live-fire demonstration and imparted safety tips to the audience.
The airline’s Facilities Management department provided equipment for the demonstration; Qatar Duty Free donated prizes for the winners; and all the Oryx School students were given with a special meal pack prepared by Qatar Aircraft Catering Company.
