Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation – has announced that it will organise the seventh edition of its livestock festival, Halal Qatar, from March 2 to 10.
The event will feature a variety of cultural and entertainment attractions in addition to the main activities.
Khalid al-Shahwani, head of the organising committee of the festival, said: “The importance of the festival is increasing with every passing year for its role in supporting livestock breeders in Qatar and the region, improving income levels and preserving rare species”.
The festival comes at a time when efforts are intensifying to support national food products, particularly in the field of livestock and agriculture and in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, highlighting the country’s strategy to ensure self-sufficiency and food security, he observed.
Al-Shahwani noted that Halal Qatar is a major festival that aims to preserve the customs and traditions of the country, in addition to serving as an important platform for educating youngsters on the national identity and heritage.
The highlights of the event include Al Mazain and the Al Mazad auction, Katara has said in a statement.
The festival programme is divided into two periods, morning (from 8am to 12noon) and evening (from 3pm to 10pm).
Also on offer will be educational and entertainment activities, as well as theatrical performances, competitions and distribution of gifts among the winners.
School visits will be held as part of the festival, and registration to take part in the different competitions will take place on the day of the events.
