The Bone and Joint Center at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) organised two international conferences, it was announced yesterday.
The Third Qatar International Foot and Ankle Conference, one of the most important medical conferences in the Middle East, took place in the second week of February.
The event had the participation of over 200 delegates who exchanged their expertise with some of the renowned physicians in foot and ankle surgery around the globe. They included Dr Mark Mayerson, Dr John Kenedy and Dr Keith Wapner from the US as well as Dr Ian Winson and Dr Steve Parson from the UK.
The conference provided an intensive scientific programme with the latest information and research in foot and ankle surgery. It also had a variety of workshops and training sessions in the new medical equipment. The conference was part of the ongoing efforts of HMC to raise the competency of the staff to the highest international standards.
Meanwhile, the centre also organised the 4th Qatar International Spine Conference, one of the most prestigious medical conferences in the region. It was attended by a large number of delegates and some of the international figures in spine surgery such as Dr Jeffery Wang from University of California and Dr Tony Tannory from Boston.
The conference provided an intensive scientific programme with the latest information and research in spine surgery and gave an important opportunity for HMC surgeons to interact with the international surgeons about common spine problems like lower back pain and spine deformities. A variety of training workshops on latest techniques in spine surgery were provided at the conference.
Dr Mohamed al-Ateeq al-Dosari, head of Orthopaedics Department and director of Bone And Joint Center, HMC co-ordinated the conferences.
