There are chances of rain in the country from Thursday until the end of next week due to a spell of ‘unsettled weather’, the Qatar Met department has said.

The weather office has urged people to be cautious and check latest forecasts before venturing into the sea in view of the expected conditions.

In a report Wednesday, the department said “a state of atmospheric instability is expected to affect the country due to the extension of a low-pressure system over the region, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies forecast at times”, from Thursday until the end of next week. Scattered light to moderate rain is expected on Thursday and Friday.

The chances of rain are expected to improve on Saturday and Sunday (February 24 and 25) as conditions become favourable for thundershowers in some areas, the report states. This may be accompanied by strong dust-raising winds at times, especially on Sunday.

Also, preliminary medium-range forecasts suggest weak chances of rain next Monday (February 25), according to the Met department. ‘Unsettled rainy weather conditions’ are expected to resume again from next Tuesday (February 27) and continue until the end of next week.

Thursday’s detailed forecast says there are chances of scattered rain in both inshore and offshore areas at times.

The temperature in Doha is expected to range from 19-26C on Thursday; Wednesday, it was 18-24C.

The Met department has advised people to follow latest weather updates through its official social media accounts.
