Palestinian Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip has thanked Qatar for the continuous support to the Palestinian people, the latest example of which was the provision of an urgent grant for the health sector in the Gaza Strip, which has been suffering from lack of funding for several years.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior in the Gaza Strip, Iyad al-Bozm, said that the support provided by Qatar has received appreciation from the Palestinian people.
He said that over the years, the infrastructure and housing sector in Gaza has developed thanks to Qatari support.
On the reports about attack on ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi, chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Strip, the Interior Ministry’s spokesman said that the press conference held by ambassador al-Emadi at Al-Shifa Complex coincided with a protest by cleaning workers in the health sector for not receiving salaries from the government for several months.
He added that there was some anger on the part of some cleaners, explaining that the anger was not directed at Qatar or at ambassador al-Emadi, but at their work conditions.
Some workers tried to approach the car of ambassador al-Emadi to talk to him, but there was no attack on the ambassador, he added.
Al-Bozm said that ambassador al-Emadi was at the event till the end, but some “malicious media vehicles tried to portray the incident as an attack on al-Emadi and the Qatari role”, stressing that Qatar enjoys everyone’s gratitude for its continuous assistance to face the crises experienced by the people of the Gaza Strip.
