His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met on Friday with a delegation from the US Congress, including Senator Lindsey Graham, Senator Jim Risch, Senator Ben Sasse, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Senator Michael Bennet, Senator Jeff Merkley, Representative Joe Wilson, Representative Joaquin Castro, and former Senator Kelly Ayotte, on the sidelines of the 54th session of Munich Security Conference, in Germany.
During the meeting, they reviewed co-operation between the two friendly countries and the Qatari-US strategic partnership in the framework of the joint declaration on security co-operation and the memorandums and agreements signed between the two countries, especially in countering terrorism and combating its financing.
The meeting also touched on regional and international developments. The US Congress members expressed thanks to His Highness the Emir for Qatar's role and efforts in fighting terrorism through Al Udeid Air Base, as well as its constant efforts to maintain stability in the region.
Members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Emir attended the meeting.
His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani also met with Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and his accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the 54th session of Munich Security Conference.
During the meeting, they reviewed the strategic relations between the two countries, ways to develop them in different fields, besides discussing the latest regional and international developments. Members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Emir attended the meeting.
