Carl Soderberg and Alexander Kerfoot scored, and Semyon Varlamov stopped all 44 shots he faced as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 on Wednesday in Denver to equal a franchise record with a 10th consecutive home-ice victory.
Varlamov recorded his second shutout of the season and his first win since returning from injury a couple of weeks ago. Colorado’s last loss at the Pepsi Center was Dec. 27.
The last time the organisation won 10 straight home games was when the team played in Quebec City during the 1994-95 campaign. The Nordiques also won 10 straight home games in the 1983-84 season.

Maple Leafs 6, Blue Jackets 3
Nazem Kadri recorded his fourth career hat trick and a career-high five points as Toronto finished a five-game homestand sweep with a win over Columbus. Patrick Marleau had a goal and two assists, and Dominic Moore and Mitch Marner also scored for Toronto.
Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen recorded 54 saves. Nick Foligno tallied twice and had three points for the Blue Jackets, and Jack Johnson scored a goal.
Columbus had at least 50 shots on goal for the third straight game, the first time an NHL team accomplished the feat since the 1967-68 season.

Panthers 4, Canucks 3
Nick Bjugstad notched a goal and an assist in Florida’s four-goal first period, and James Reimer stopped 34 shots as the visiting Panthers edged Vancouver. Florida, which improved to 2-0-0 on its five-game road trip, also got goals from Evgenii Dadonov, Jamie McGinn and Alex Petrovic.
Vancouver’s Jacob Markstrom allowed all four Florida goals on 14 shots in the first period. He was hooked at the first intermission for Anders Nilsson, who stopped all 20 shots he faced.
