HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani met yesterday with the former deputy prime minister of Canada and former premier of Quebec Jean Charest and his accompanying delegation, during their visit to Doha. During the meeting they discussed and exchanged views on topics of common interest. They also reviewed co-operation aspects especially in the economy and trade fields and ways to boost and develop them. They also discussed promoting investment opportunities between both countries.
The trade volume between Qatar and Canada reached nearly QR633.8mn in 2017. There are 265 Canadian companies operating in Qatar, 12 of which are entirely owned by Canada in addition to 253 joint venture companies with Qatari-Canadian capital. These companies work in the field of engineering, construction, engineering consultancy, real estate development, energy and oil and gas services, medical services, education services and other various fields.

Speaker meets British parliament delegation
HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud yesterday met a delegation from the British Parliament currently visiting Qatar. They discussed parliamentary relations between the Advisory Council and the British Parliament, ways of supporting and developing them, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

Industrial zones draft law gets Council nod
Advisory Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee held a meeting yesterday as part of the 46th ordinary session under the chairmanship of its Rapporteur Mohamed bin Mahdi al-Ahbabi. The committee continued reviewing draft law on industrial zones. The meeting was attended by Director of the Department of Industrial Zones at the Ministry of Energy and Industry Yousef al-Emadi. He explained the point of view of the ministry regarding the draft law on industrial zones, and responded to the inquiries of the committee members on the matter. The committee decided to approve the mentioned draft law and raise its recommendations to the Advisory Council.

Public Security chief meets Kuwaiti official
HE the Director General of Public Security Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi met the Kuwait Police Sport Federation President, Major General Abdullah Youssef al Mehanna, who is currently visiting Qatar. During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics of interest.

Qatar-Ireland ties reviewed
HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Muraikhi met the Irish Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ciaran Cannon, who is currently visiting the country. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of developing them, in addition to matters of common concern. The meeting was attended by a number of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Real estate transactions
The trading volume of registered real estates between February 4 to 8 at the Ministry of Justice’s real estate registration department stood at QR368,159,081. The department’s weekly report said that the trading included empty lands, residential units, multipurpose buildings, residential buildings and residential complexes. Most of the trading took place in Doha, Umm Salal, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Rayyan, Al Daayen, Al Khor and Al Thakhira.
