Ashghal held a meeting in Bani Hajer to explain to the local residents about works executed in recent months in the area. It was held at the Majlis of the Mohamed Saleh al-Khayareen, a member of the Central Municipal Council (Constituency-16, Bani Hajer).
Ashghal's roads projects department manager Saoud al-Tamimi, head of Northern Areas Section in the Roads Projects Department Ali Ashkanani and other senior officials were in attendance.
At the meeting, officials announced the completion of packages one and seven of the roads and infrastructure development project in Bani Hajer North – Rawdat Egdaim.
While expressing happiness at the completion of works in his constituency, Mohamed Saleh al-Khayareen thanked officials for their visit to the area and briefing on the developments there.
The CMC member also expressed his appreciation at the achievements of Ashghal in Bani Hajer projects and the efforts being made in the projects currently under way and future projects.
Al-Khayareen praised Ashghal's quick response to citizens’ requests: "In Bani Hajer, we are receiving a quick response from Ashghal as well as a permanent follow-up to our area from their side. This is in addition to maintenance works that are being carried at regular intervals.”
Saoud al-Tamimi said works in packages one and seven of the roads and infrastructure development projects in Bani Hajer North will bring large benefits for the residents of Bani Hajer, which these days is witnessing a massive development. The projects provide integrated infrastructure and the latest roads networks linking Bani Hajer to Doha, Dukhan and the rest of the country through the expressway networks. The new road networks are expected to reduce travel time in Bani Hajer area by 60% in addition to providing a direct access to the Mall of Qatar.
Ali Ashkanani said the package one of the project serves 663 residential plots in an area of 1.62sq km, where large-scale improvements have been carried out to the road networks with a total length of 28km, widths averaging between 16 and 30m, in addition to providing signal-controlled intersections. These improvements will ease the access to all residential and business establishments in the area as well as a number of schools and mosques. Also as part of the package, the western section of Al-Terhab Street has been widened to connect Bani Hajer area with the Celebrations Road and the Mall of Qatar.
Regarding package seven of the project Ashkanani said it serves approximately 520 residential plots in a 1.35sq km area through the construction of 21km of local roads using the latest standards and specifications to replace the temporary roads in the area.
The project also provided telecommunication lines and about 40 electrical substations. 
To enhance traffic safety in the area, many signboards and speed humps were installed as part of the packages in addition to installing 1,937 light poles, building parking bays, and providing 94km of shared pedestrians and cyclist lanes to encourage residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Both packages included extensive infrastructure development works of highest standards, including the construction of a 69km-long storm water and ground water drainage networks to solve the issues arising out of rainwater accumulation.
The construction of a 50km-long foul sewer drainage network too has been completed. Additionally, both packages included the construction of about 26km-long treated sewage effluent networks.
Ashkanani said the package one provides a permanent solution for sewage overflow problem and it allows the elimination of the use of sewage tanks by providing new drainage networks, to which all houses within this package were connected. The package seven will also provide a solution to these problems after connecting the main trunk sewers to outfalls under future projects that Ashghal is currently implementing.
Mubarak Saleh al-Khayarin, a resident, thanked Ashghal for the attention that it pays for the development of Bani Hajer. 
Another resident Mohamed al-Mansouri expressed his happiness at the meeting and he praised works being carried out in the area.
Rashid bin Saeed al-Khayreen al-Hajri, also a resident of the area, said: “We are happy that Ashghal officials visited the area and showcased the projects in Bani Hajer constituency. We are proud of the achievements Ashghal has made and hope that everything that has been presented will be fully implemented as planned.”
