HE the Speaker of the Advisory (Shura) Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud held several meetings on the sidelines of the Third Conference of the Arab Parliament, in Cairo, at the headquarters of the Arab League yesterday. 
HE al-Mahmoud held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. 
During the meeting, they reviewed several issues, especially the current Arab situation. 
The Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud also met the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) Antonio Pedro Roque Da Visitacao Oliveira.  
They discussed the efforts of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly in the Middle East, including the peace process in the region, as well as bilateral relations between the Shura Council and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean.
HE al-Mahmoud also held a separate meeting with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Gabriela Cuevas Barron.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on parliamentary issues of mutual interest and relations between the Advisory (Shura) Council and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Meanwhile, the third conference of the Arab Parliament and the heads of Arab parliaments was held here today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League of Arab.
The agenda of the conference included discussions on the terrorism phenomenon, comprehensive vision and social, intellectual, economic and security measures against all forms of terrorism and in all parts of the Arab world.
The conference also discussed ways to root out terrorism and eliminate it, in addition to spreading the concepts of Islam on tolerance, constructive dialogue among different countries, religions and cultures, as well as protecting, spreading, consolidating and preserving these concepts in individuals and societies and strengthening Arab partnerships with international organisations and countries with advanced capabilities in the field of counter-terrorism.
The heads of the Arab parliaments issued an Arab document to combat terrorism and extremist ideology, which will be raised by the heads of the Arab parliaments to the 29th Arab League summit meeting in March. The conference also issued a statement on Al Quds Al Sharif, and another statement on joint Arab action.
