Experts in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from the Ministry of Communications and Qatar Institute for Computer Science took part in the Katara Tech Forum, tackling several ICT issues, initiatives and updates.
Katara’s deputy general manager for operations Ahmed al-Sayed said the forum emphasises the role of ICT in achieving sustainable development goals.
Al-Sayed stressed that the forum is a platform for exchanging unique and fruitful experiences, and discussing the prospects of technical development between different institutions “to consolidate the rules of the digital economy.”
E-Government Portal manager Tariq al-Emadi presented some of their future projects in Qatar, citing that the portal has been providing services and information since 2000.
“The portal is linked to more than 100 governmental, semi-governmental and private entities, as it offers 1,380 service descriptions and 700 electronic services,” he said. “It provides services to investors and individuals alike, including data, events, topics and applications”.
Al-Emadi said the portal will witness a number of new projects such as From Start to End, Artificial Intelligence, My Data, Community Communication, and the Mini Gates, in addition to the Open Data and Qatar Digital Strategy 2020 projects.
Researcher Yazen Boshmaf from the Qatar Institute of Computing Sciences presented a lecture on the Block Chain technology, a new method of data regulation.
