As part of the ongoing co-operation between Al Shamal Municipality and Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme, a project was implemented to install solar energy recharge stations at the public gardens.
 The project also includes installing umbrellas and lights that works with solar energy at the beaches and public parks of Al Shamal Municipality.
In all, 34 beach umbrellas, equipped with two white LED lights of 18 watts, were installed at all the beaches at Al Ruwais, Al Shammal, and Abu Zalluf, besides Al Ghariya beach.
Also, 10 solar energy-operated recharge stations were installed, with each including a LED light unit of 32 watts, for recharging mobile phones, in addition to a platform to supply Wi-Fi at the public parks.
Hamad Juma al-Mannai, director of Al Shamal Municipality, honoured yesterday Sheikha Dana Rashid al-Thani, senior officer of Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme, and a representative of Al Emadi Solar, the company that implemented the project.
