Screen For Life, Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, has taken the mobile screening unit to the roads again for 2018 as part of its mission to raise cancer awareness and highlight the importance of screening in the early detection of cancer.
The mobile screening unit is deployed at the Mesaimeer Health Centre this month. Visitors to the health centre are given an opportunity to learn more about the unit and how it operates, while women aged between 45 and 69 years are offered complimentary mammograms.
The dedicated mobile screening unit plays a crucial role in the Screen For Life efforts and provides screening access to people who cannot easily get access to one of the programme’s three fixed facilities at the Al Wakra, Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail health centres.
As part of the outreach programme, physicians from the Primary Health Care Corporation at all the health centres are referring eligible women for screening.
All eligible women in the target age bracket, who have a valid Qatar ID and health card, can request for a screening by calling the Screen For Life hotline at 8001112.
