HBK, riding a fine five-wicket haul from Sewinda, scripted an exciting last-over victory over Warriors Club to advance to the QCA Twenty20 Cricket Tournament final at the West Bay Grounds.
The QCA, under the presidency of Yousef Jeham al-Kuwari, is hosting this tournament in a bid to maximise the abilities of the local players.
HBK’s rivals for the top honours will be Feroz Youngsters, who outclassed Galfar Al Misnad by eight wickets with two overs to spare.
Sewinda ripped through the batting of Warriors Club as he dismissed five players for just 12 runs. He was backed up well by Gayan, who picked two wickets and helped HBK limit the opponents to 111 all out in 18 overs.
Imraz and Assad were the only players to offer some resistance. Imraz made 27 off 28 balls with five boundaries, while Assad got 16. HBK had to battle hard during the chase and got home in the final over only.
Mansoor led the pursuit as he smashed 33 not out. His knock contained two sixes and two fours. Dasun hit two fours in his 19-ball 21. Inam-Ul-Haq (three for 11 in 3.5 overs) and Tanvir Sr (2 for seven in two overs) accounted for half the Galfar Al Misnad team and were instrumental in the collapse for 98 all out.
Kamran (19), Asim (18) and Rizlan (18 with two fours) tried hard to bring them close to three figures.
Qalandar batted aggressively and blasted a 41-ball 43 with a six and half a dozen fours for Feroz Youngsters during the chase.
Man-of-the-Match Inam-Ul-Haq smashed four boundaries to compile 34 in 48 balls to complete his impressive performance.
