The Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, is gearing up to launch its 12-day winter camp, ‘Winterna’ from tomorrow at Katara – The Cultural Village.
The Winterna camp aims to provide high school and university students the necessary skills required for creative thinking, project development, team work, effective communication methods, as well as leadership skills. The camp will impart these skills through workshops, activities, and field visits to some institutions and businesses.
Winterna will provide participants with the opportunity to experience and experiment a working environment or what is known as job shadowing in many disciplines and sectors.
This activity was designed to give the participants a chance to learn more about the nature of the work of the employees by accompanying them throughout the working day and to acquire expertise that would enable them to become successful employees in the future as well.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Suwaidi said: “We received an overwhelming response for the first edition of the winter camp held last year. In the last Winterna camp, we successfully-organised several planned activities like the development and educational workshops to highlight theoretical concepts and apply work skills in a real environment.”
The camp also helped students get a clear understanding about the values, rules, and standards adopted by entrepreneurs and companies with firsthand experience of working environment, which was a real and tangible opportunity for all participants to get acquainted with different fields and businesses.
“By launching this edition of the winter camp, we seek to provide this experience to the largest number of students who missed the opportunity to participate in the camp last year,” she added.
