The illegal siege of Qatar caused collateral damage across the region, Doha-resident Shan Haider Rizvi told Qatar Urdu Radio’s live show Haqeeqat yesterday. “The region at large was affected by it and countries that imposed the siege had as much to lose as Qatar,” Rizvi, who manages a trading and contracting company, said.
He was of the opinion that despite the blockade of sea, land and air routes, local businesses were not affected by any restrictions. “In fact, many products are moving at a faster speed here, especially food items that are imported from different countries, and they are available at low prices.” “From the first day of the siege, Qatar showed resilience in all its policies. It did not react to any absurd accusation fiercely but handled every hurdle with calm and patience.”
Haqeeqat is a joint venture of the Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corp Urdu Radio. The show, hosted by Saif-ur-Rehman, aims to engage and interact with the large South Asian expatriate community in Qatar.
