Qatar Airways has extended support to Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) programmes that aim to raise awareness of cancer prevention methods and emphasise the importance of early detection.
The initiative comes within the framework of the national carrier’s programme to promote awareness of public health issues, especially cancer.
Dr Dera al-Dosari, Public Relations and Marketing manager at QCS, met a Qatar Airways delegation at the Society’s QCS headquarters and received a donation.
Mariam Hamad al-Noaimi, general manager of QCS, thanked the airline for the gesture and said: “The donation is part of Qatar Airways’ commitment to its responsibilities towards the community, especially raising awareness about cancer.”
She wished that all institutions would join hands to spread awareness of the disease, as well as provide support – both material and moral - for people living with the disease.
Dr al-Dosari also expressed gratitude to Qatar Airways for its gesture, saying: “We hope that more partnerships with all State institutions will contribute to the deployment of community awareness of cancer and ways to prevent it.”
The official stressed that addressing cancer needed concerted efforts and constant co-operation between all institutions and agencies in the State, and that QCS cannot operate in isolation, pointing to the importance of community partnerships in fighting cancer.
Nabeela J Fakhri, senior vice-president - Human Resources at Qatar Airways, added: “We are very proud of all the good work done by charity organisations in the country and by Qatar Cancer Society, being one of the largest charity organisations in Qatar with a mission to improve health conditions, especially at times when the number of cancer victims is rapidly increasing.
“This could be fought if we educate people about the illness symptoms and are able to discover it during its early stages.
“The donation is part of efforts to raise health awareness and improve the health conditions of members of the Qatari community.”
