Vodafone Qatar has said its mobile customers reached 1.39mn during the three months ended on December 31, 2017; the company also disclosed a total compensation of QR90mn for the network outage in July last year.
The customer base saw postpaid members grow 9% to 0.32mn due to the popularity of its Flex plans, its spokesperson said.
The company changed its financial year end from March 31 to December 31 at its extraordinary general assembly meeting held on October 18, 2017. Accordingly, the company’s audited financial statements for the financial year ending December 31, 2017 (nine months) will be issued before March 31, 2018.
In addition, Vodafone Qatar has reached commercial settlement with network vendors as compensation for the network outage experienced by the company in July 2017. The total compensation is equal to QR25mn in credit notes and QR65mn in credit vouchers to be utilised in the future.
“The company has shown a strong recovery after the outage in July 2017. Adding to this, by the end of November our measurement of customer satisfaction was close to where it was prior to the network outage when we were enjoying our highest ever performance,” Vodafone Qatar chief executive Ian Gray said.
“We now remain focused on keeping the momentum going and ensuring we build on our strong global reputation and to keep on challenging telco norms in order to bring innovation and create an exciting future for our customers in Qatar,” he added.
