The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has opened free registration for local and overseas companies specialising in the production, supply and distribution of dates to participate in the “seasonal dates market”.
The market will be held from February 15 to March 15 at Souq Waqif, which is considered one of the top tourist attractions in the country and draws many citizens, residents and visitors.
In a statement yesterday, the MEC said the market is “a great opportunity” for companies to market and promote various types of dates and related food products.
The ministry said it has launched an initiative to support and encourage companies to participate in the market, through co-ordination with Qatar Airways and Gulf Warehousing Company, in order to offer discounts and discounts on shipping and storage as well as hotel and vehicle reservations.
The statement notes that the MEC initiative aims to promote local dates and open up new markets as it offers a good opportunity for exchanging views and exploring possible investments in the field.
It is expected that the market will witness a large turnout of visitors due to the location and also because it coincides with the ongoing Spring Festival at Souq Waqif.
The ministry said it would allocate space to the participating entities and provide them with all necessary services and facilities.
Interested companies can contact the MEC through e-mail: [email protected], or telephone: 55951115.
