Qatar Charity (QC) has held several receptions and ceremonies within and outside the country, across its bureaus around the globe, in celebration of Qatar National Day.  
The National Day receptions were attended by the heads and representatives of Qatari diplomatic missions abroad as well as officials from the host countries, QC said in a press statement.  
On the occasion, thousands of QC’s sponsored orphans in Palestine, Sudan, Kenya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Niger were happy to show their love celebrating Qatar National Day, the statement noted. Sharing the joy, the orphans participated in cultural, musical and sports contests held by the QC bureaus. The QC bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted an open sports day for 300 sponsored orphans, in collaboration with Subul Sport Centre. 
In Indonesia, the Qatar Charity ceremony was attended by 200 orphans and more than 100 other attendees, including key figures from the Indonesian civil society.  In his speech, Qatar’s ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed bin Jassim al-Hamar said: “Thank you, our Qatari people, for drawing a smile on the faces of Indonesian orphans.” He stressed Qatar has, and always will, invest in and promote charitable work in Indonesia. 
In Sudan, the QC ceremony was attended by 1,000 orphans and led by Sudan’s social care and social development minister, Amal al-Bili, and consul-general of Qatar Ahmed al-Abdali along with representative from local and international charities. Along with the National Day celebrations and its annual activity plans, QC hosted a ceremony in Kenya to honour ‘excellent orphan students’ in the region of Karisia. 
Bashar Abbas, head of the local parliament in the Karisia region, highlighted the crucial role Qatari benefactors play in terms of promoting sustainable development across Kenya, especially in the fields of social care and orphans’ sponsorship. More than 400 orphans took part in the celebration of Qatar National Day in Kosovo. On behalf of the sponsored orphans, Luna Adami (a sponsored young orphan girl) delivered a moving speech to thank the sponsors and their efforts in helping orphans in Kosovo. 
In Gaza, more than 400 orphans attended the ceremony held by Qatar Charity’s bureau in Palestine. 
The ceremony in Niger was attended by more than 500 orphans and led by the Nigerien deputy minister of youth and sports, who praised Qatar’s efforts with regard to supporting sustainable development in the country. Through Rofaqaa, a project that promotes orphans’ advocacy and sponsorship, Qatar Charity has managed to sponsor 110,000 orphans around the globe while targeting 150,000 orphan sponsorships by the end of next year, the statement adds.
