The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ashghal (Public Works Authority) for its technical support for infrastructure projects that the Fund is financing in different countries.

QFFD director general Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari and Ashghal president and senior engineer Saad bin Ahmad al-Muhannadi signed the MoU at a ceremony hosted at Ashghal's headquarters.

Through the MoU, the two parties will co-ordinate to exchange expertise to contribute to the implementation of the projects more efficiently and with a higher quality.

While expressing happiness at the co-operation al-Muhannadi said it was an honour for Ashghal to provide all available expertise to contribute to achieving the mission of the QFFD to implement projects with the best quality and efficiency.

Al-Kuwari said the MoU comes within the framework of joint and close co-operation between the QFFD and various government entities, including Ashghal, which contributes to achieving the Fund’s development objectives as part of Qatar’s commitment towards friendly countries to implement different projects that contribute directly to the development of these countries.”

The QFFD official also said the MoU with Ashghal would include important development projects in the fields of infrastructure, buildings, and project management. “This MoU also signals the beginning of its implementation in developing infrastructure in Somalia."

The MoU, he said, would ensure the start of the preparation of technical designs for the 90km-long Mogadishu – Jawhar Road and the 30km-long Mogadishu–Afgoye Road, which are very important projects that will enable the Somalian people to build the infrastructure systems in the country, contributing directly to economic growth and achieving sustainable development.

"We look for more co-operation and partnership in the future between Qatar Fund for Development and the Public Works Authority in the field of infrastructure and buildings in many developing countries, to strengthen Qatar’s role in development on the regional and international levels.”
