*Emir Leaves Bamako after the one-day visit

The State of Qatar and Republic of Mali today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the two countries in the field of sport. Another MoU is signed by Qatar Fund for Development and the Mali government to cooperate in education sector.
The round of official talks took place  before the signing of MoUs at the presidential palace in the Malian capital of Bamako were led by His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani  and Ibrahim Boubacar Keta , Mali president.
At the outset of the session, the Malian president welcomed His Highness the Emir, expressing his thanks to him for accepting the invitation to visit the Republic of Mali and reaffirming that the visit will enhance ties between the two countries.

For his part, His Highness the Emir thanked the president and the Malian people for the hospitality that he and the accompanying delegation had received, noting that the visit comes as part of deepening the cooperation ties between the two countries on all fronts.
The session reviewed means of boosting and developing bilateral ties, particularly in the fields of mutual cooperation.
Earlier, His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, accompanied by the Qatari delegation, was received at Bamako International Airport by Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta.
Prime Minister Abdoulaye Idrissa Maiga, a number of ministers and senior officials, Mali's Ambassador to the State of Qatar Cheick Ahmed Tidiany, Qatar's Ambassador to Mali Abdulrahman Ali Al Kubaisi, the heads of diplomatic missions in Maliand and staff members of the Qatari embassy were present at the official reception ceremony.
The talks between the two countries also touched on a number of issues at the regional and international levels, in addition to the two countries' cooperation in combating terrorism.

Upon departure from Bamako International Airport after the bilateral talks and signing of MoUs, His Highness the Emir was seen off by Ibrahim Boubaker Keita, Mali president, prime minister Abdoulaye Idrissa Maiga, minister and diplomats.
Later, His Highness the Emir sent a cable to the president of Mali, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and honor that he and the accompanying delegation received during the visit that provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues of common concern and ways to support and strengthen the friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries in the different fields for the good and interest of the two friendly peoples. , His Highness the Emir also wished the president health and happiness and wished the people of Mali further development and growth.
