Four-month Spring Festival at Souq Waqif from December 25
Souq Waqif will host Spring Festival events from December 25, 2017 to April 25, 2018. The festival is organised by the Organising Committee of the Private Engineering Office.
Talking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Souq Waqif director Mohammed al-Salem said that it is the first time that the Spring Festival will be held over four months.
He added that this year’s festival offers a range of family-friendly fun, including parades, shows, plays, music featuring top stars and children’s entertainment.
Al-Saleem said that the Spring Festival will also present fine arts events in the various sections of Souq Waqif Arts Centre, including workshops.

47 endangered birds seized
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has seized 47 Hubara birds that were illegally brought into the country, in violation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The ministry said in a statement yesterday that it plans to take legal action against the smugglers, especially since the Hubara bird is considered an endangered species. – QNA
