Qatar’s
embassies and diplomatic missions marked National Day, which is
celebrated on December 18 of every year, in commemoration of the state’s
founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, under the theme ‘Promise
of Prosperity and Glory’.
Their Excellencies, Heads of Diplomatic,
Consular and Representative Missions of the State of Qatar abroad,
extended greetings and congratulations to His Highness the Emir Sheikh
Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin
Khalifa al-Thani, and the Qatari people, wishing the State of Qatar
further progress and prosperity.
The Qatari diplomatic celebrations
in the capitals and cities of the world were attended by high level
officials that reflects Qatar’s distinguished relations with the
countries of the world.
In Berlin, Qatar’s ambassador to Germany
Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani hosted a reception on the occasion
of Qatar National Day.
The function was attended by more than 400
senior representatives of official political, parliamentary, diplomatic
and economic institutions as well as a number of heads of diplomatic
missions and Qatari nationals in Germany.
In his speech during the
ceremony, Qatar’s ambassador underlined the importance of the
commemoration of the founding of the State of Qatar by the founder
Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.
The celebration of National Day
is a celebration of achievements, under the wise leadership of His
Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, he added.
HE the
ambassador praised the strong and strategic relations between Qatar and
Germany and appreciated events held for Qatari-German Cultural Year
2017.

In
the Qatari Embassy in Muscat, Qatar’s ambassador to the Sultanate of
Oman Ali bin Fahad al-Hajri hosted a reception on the occasion of Qatar
National Day.
The ceremony was attended by Shihab bin Tariq al-Said,
adviser to His Majesty the Sultan, as the guest of honour, in addition
to a number of Their Highnesses, Excellencies the Ministers, Deputies,
State Council and Shura Council members, senior officials of the
Sultan’s armed forces, a number of officials of the Omani Foreign
Ministry, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate of
Oman, businessmen and media professionals and a number of Qatari
students studying in Oman.
In the Netherlands, Qatar’s ambassador to
the Kingdom of the Netherlands Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed al-Thani held a
reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day at The Hague.
The
ceremony was attended by the Netherlands Foreign Ministry’s Director of
Protocol and Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa
Department along with the Mayor of Wassenaar and a large number of heads
of diplomatic missions, officials of international organisations,
businessmen, the media and representatives of the Arab community in the
Netherlands.
The ambassador stressed the importance of promoting and
developing bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the
Kingdom of the Netherlands for the good of both friendly peoples.
He
thanked the participants in the celebration of Qatar National Day and
hoped that peace, security and prosperity will prevail throughout the
world.
Qatar’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain Mohammed Jaham
al-Kuwari held in Madrid, a reception on the occasion of Qatar National
Day. The function was attended by a number of senior officials as well
as representatives of the palace, government and various parties and
heads of missions.
During the ceremony, the ambassador stressed the
importance of Qatari-Spanish relations and touched on the Gulf crisis,
stressing that Qatar is open to dialogue.
For his part, Chairman of
the Justice Commission of the Kingdom of Spain Manuel Girimo Taba,
praised the development of relations between the two countries and the
role of Qatar at the regional and international levels.
In Belgium,
ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of
the State of Qatar Delegation to the European Union and Nato Abdulrahman
bin Mohammed al-Khulaifi held a reception on the occasion of the
National Day of the State of Qatar.
The ambassador stressed that
National Day is gaining special momentum this year with the siege of
Qatar. “Since the month of June, the State of Qatar has achieved many
major successes at the national and international levels,” the
ambassador said.
In Canada, Qatar’s ambassador Fahad Mohammed Yusuf
Kafoud, hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the
State of Qatar.
The Embassy organised a Photo Exhibition reflecting
the progress and the cultural and urban renaissance witnessed by the
State of Qatar. A series of films showing aspects of the state’s
national celebrations were also screened.
Ambassador of the State of
Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Mohammed bin Arar al-Nuaimi held a
reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day in Bishkek. The ceremony
was attended by the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of the Kyrgyz
Republic Nurlan Abdrakhmanov, a number of government officials,
representatives of diplomatic missions, the media and guests.
The
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic congratulated the State
of Qatar on its national day, pointing to his country’s interest in
enhancing bilateral co-operation with Qatar.
The Ambassador said that
Qatar appreciates the positive role of the international community in
supporting the Qatari position, which calls for resolving the crisis of
Qatar’s siege through dialogue and discussing controversial issues
without compromising the sovereignty of countries or interfering in
their internal affairs.
In Hong Kong, Sultan bin Ali al-Khater, the
Consul General of the State of Qatar to the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, held a
reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day. The Guest of Honour,
representing the government at the ceremony was the Financial Secretary
of Hong Kong Paul Chan.
The function was also attended by Deputy
Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong
Song Ru’an, the Director of the Protocol Department of the Hong Kong
Government Judy Li and a number of officials, diplomats and guests.
During their address, the Minister of Finance and Consul of Qatar
underlined the deep bilateral relations and strong trade ties between
the State of Qatar and the Hong Kong Region.
