Commercial Bank has announced that it has begun a host of Qatar National Day activities and promotions, with a staff event honouring Qatari traditions and heritage at Commercial Bank Plaza in West Bay.
A replica of Al Zubarah Fort, a Unesco World Heritage listed site, has been constructed outside Commercial Bank Plaza, with staff and the public treated to traditional Qatari cultural activities. Also on display are some classic cars in the nearby open area to reflect the national heritage.
The interior of the Plaza lobby was decorated with Qatari flags and featured a Qatari majlis, plus a traditional coffee shop with Arabic sweets and coffee. The folkloric Ardha dance greeted the arrival of the Commercial Bank board members, who officially opened the day of celebrations by welcoming staff and guests to the National Day zone. The board members witnessed a play and a traditional dance performed by a visiting girls team from a local school, before cutting a special National Day cake featuring the ‘Tamim Al Majd’ image and the Qatar National Day slogan.
Seven Commercial Bank branches are featuring a range of traditional activities such as henna, a falcon handler and traditional food and sweets until today for customers and guests to enjoy the festivities in comfort. On December 18, giveaways gifts will be provided for children in Commercial Bank’s mall branches.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali bin Jabor al-Thani, Commercial Bank’s chairman of the board of directors, said: “Commercial Bank is very proud to be a local Qatari bank and Qatar National Day holds great significance for us as an organisation due our longstanding and deep roots with Qatar, going back over 40 years.
“We take the time on National Day to express our pride in being Qatari and unity with the Qatari community, and renew our commitment to Qatar’s all-round national development in economic, social and human terms – as one of Qatar’s leading private sector companies and employers.”
Hussain Alfardan, Commercial Bank vice-chairman, said: “The focus for our National Day activities is Qatar’s rich cultural heritage as it is important to maintain Qatari traditions and a link to the past, while at the same time we celebrate the tremendous progress Qatar has achieved as a nation, and we look forward to a bright and prosperous future under the wise leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.”
Omar Hussain Alfardan, Commercial Bank managing director, noted: “Qatar National Day is a glorious day in our nation’s history and a great occasion to celebrate and strengthen national unity.”
