HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, yesterday inaugurated the Ministry of Defence pavilion - ‘Defence Camp’ - at Darb Al Saai. 
The pavilion marks the ministry’s first participation in the Darb Al Saai activities.
HE Dr al-Attiyah toured the camp along with HE the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, the director of Defence Communication and other dignitaries.
The ‘Defence Camp’ features several activities that suit all age categories, including air and maritime simulators, and also involves the participation of a number of international companies, such as Boeing, BAE Systems, Dassault Aviation and Raytheon Industries.
Also, the ‘Defence Camp’ houses Qatar Armed Forces ‘experience rooms’, which consists of interactive rooms for all participating units, where members of the community can ‘experience’ military operations, humanitarian missions, etc, a press statement notes.
A realistic replica of the fort of the general headquarters, which contains artefacts from military archives and pieces on loan from Qatar Museums, is also featured. In addition, there is a parade ground for different activities, such as the military music band and several others. Another field has been set up for hand-combat demonstrations by the Joint Special Forces, as well as a display of several old and modern vehicles.
In addition, the ‘Defence Camp’ features a specially set up obstacle course with qualified trainers to teach participants how to jump over barriers, among others.
