Hamad International Airport (HIA) has announced that it is revising car parking charges. In a statement on its website, HIA also said steps were afoot to add premium parking services such as valet and car wash over the next 3-8 months.
The revised tariff includes a reduction of the free parking grace period in the Short Term Car Park (STCP) on entrance to 10 minutes as well as the grace period on exit-time - between making the payment and the vehicle leaving the car park - to 15 minutes.
Also, from January 1, 2018, the current STCP system charge of QR5 per hour will increase to QR6 per hour, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, HIA has said the Long Term Car Park charge system will change to provide one option of QR45 per day, and several flexible options will follow.
"Hamad International Airport would like to inform its customers that it will be revising its tariffs at the airport car park(s), in line with its commitment to provide an enhanced car parking product via a professional car park operator, as convenience of car parking at the airport is an integral part of the passenger experience," the statement noted.
HIA stressed that as it "moves into a new phase of its development and is gearing up to host major international events, it is important to make the necessary investments for the right infrastructure".
"Increasing our fees is part of a natural growth process, and it is also in line with traffic management improvement around the terminals. It is important, however, to highlight that HIA’s parking fees remain one of the lowest charges across all airports around the world," it added.
Further, HIA has informed that it is currently working on "adding premium parking services with a first-class valet service and eco-friendly car wash services due to be implemented in the next 3-8 months, all supported by the most advanced digital parking solutions".
HIA and its car park operator will be launching various promotions and new products, the statement adds.
