At the outset of the meeting, the council reviewed Decree No 11 of 2017 on the amendment of some provisions of Law No 3 of 2004 on combating terrorism, which His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani had issued in July 2017.
The council reaffirmed that the decree was clear and comprehensive and goes in line with Qatar's relentless efforts to combat terrorism, noting that when the State of Qatar combats terrorism, it does so out of its sound faith, established principles, firm policy, and adherence to human values.
The council deplored the unjust campaign that seeks, through allegations and fabrications, to distort Qatar's principled and firm stance in the fight against terrorism, expressing confidence that this campaign will not achieve any of its objectives because it is based on lies.
It stressed that the major countries and the international community know the reality of Qatar's stand on the phenomenon of terrorism.
In addition, the council expressed its appreciation for the government's efforts in clarifying the principled positions of Qatar in rejecting terrorism and implementing the international commitments issued by the Security Council in relation to the fight against terrorism and its financing as well as the bilateral agreements in this regard, the latest of which was the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States, the first of its kind in the region.
The council stressed that Qatar will continue to combat terrorism with determination and will work with the international community to rid the region and the world of its evils, calling for addressing its roots and causes.
The Advisory Council reviewed Decree Law No 21 of 2017 on the amendment of some provisions of Law No
34 of 2005 on investment free zones.
The council decided to refer the decree law to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee for review and to submit a report on it to the council.
The Advisory Council on Monday held its third regular meeting at its 46th ordinary session chaired by HE the Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud.
