Ooredoo has announced that most iPhones users will now be able to take advantage of the company’s Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service in Qatar, which provides “crystal-clear voice quality over Ooredoo’s 4G Supernet network”.
Now, all iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X device users can manually choose to switch on VoLTE on their iPhones.
VoLTE technology aims to enhance user experience with superior call voice quality, faster call setup and the ability to browse the Internet or use advanced map applications on Ooredoo’s 4G network while still on a VoLTE 4G quality call, according to a statement.
To enable VoLTE, iPhone users have to update their iPhone to the latest iOS version (at least iOS 10.3.0) by going to Settings - General – Software update, or connect the iPhone to iTunes. To switch VoLTE on, they then have to go to Settings - Cellular – Cellular Data Option – Enable 4G, and then “Voice & Data” should be selected.
Ooredoo has said it is the only operator in the country to provide the benefits of VoLTE technology to customers.
In addition to the “incredible quality of service” provided to customers using VoLTE-compatible devices, Ooredoo is also ensuring “improved levels of service” for 3G and 4G service customers, as more traffic is carried on the LTE network, the statement notes.
Only Apple devices bought via Ooredoo will be guaranteed to take advantage of the new carrier bundle options from Apple. Ooredoo has encouraged all customers to buy their devices from an Ooredoo shop or the Ooredoo eShop to ensure an official guarantee and updates.
