As Qatar gets ready to host the Ride of Champions this Friday, two of the country’s cycling stars – Ali bin Towar al-Kuwari and Abdulla al-Hammadi – got on their bikes to explore Doha in preparation for the ride.
The Ride of Champions (www.rocdoha.qa) is being presented by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), organised by the Qatar Cyclists and funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Entries to the event are nearly full, but some spots are still available for the family and beginners’ ride on closed roads in Qatar Foundation, as well as the kids’ events at Oxygen Park, the organisers have said in a press statement. Limited walk-up entries will be available tomorrow and on Thursday from 5-8pm behind the Ceremonial Court at Qatar Foundation. Al-Kuwari and al-Hammadi are two of Qatar’s most inspiring cyclists. While al-Kuwari recently rode through 21 Latin American countries while making an Al Jazeera documentary, al-Hammadi has just returned after cycling 2,278km in Japan.
Cycling enthusiasts can join the two cycling stars on November 24 at the Ride of Champions.
