The Cabinet has praised His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani’s speech at the opening of the Advisory Council’s 46th session for the vision of the country’s economic and developmental renaissance. The speech will be the cornerstone of the work ahead in a bid for more achievements and self-reliance.
The speech was clear, transparent and frank about all the issues, concerns, internal challenges and external developments. It was comprehensive and sincere in its presentation and contents and was focused on the issues of the local arena in particular the unjust siege against Qatar and how the State was able to break it and overcome its effects by wisdom, vision, realistic and deliberate measures.
The speech identified the plans of the coming phase, with the Emir reiterating the country’s readiness to compromise within the framework of dialogue based on mutual respect for sovereignty and common commitments.
It is certain that Qatar will not succumb to blackmail and attempts to undermine the sovereignty and national decision.
The speech was also reassuring for a promising future based on the strength of the Qatari economy and its ability to confront the crises quickly and efficiently by improving the growth rate, doubling the efforts to meet ambitions, achieving higher growth rates in the future, identifying the strategies in terms of improving the national economy, facilitating investment, reducing bureaucracy, developing the banking system, completing food and water security projects, speeding up the implementation of tourism strategies, and encouraging the private sector to engage in these areas to deal with the new situation in the country besides paving the way for the private sector to play its role in nation-building.
Despite the siege and the tensions in the region and the world, Qatar’s foreign policy continues to be guided by the country’s values and based on a balance between its firm principles and political reality, the interests of its people, and the peoples of the region.
The speech renewed the country’s constant position since the beginning of the Gulf crisis, a dialogue that does not prejudice the sovereignty and independence of states, and the confirmation of His Highness that the signals received indicate that the siege countries are unwilling to reach a solution.
Qatar is always ready for dialogue to resolve these issues because there is no winner, we are all brothers and we are all losers due to this crisis.
It may be recalled that the Emir in his interview on the CBS channel’s 60 Minutes programme on October 30, in which he expressed sincere desire and full readiness to resolve the crisis through dialogue in respect of sovereignty, which is a red line that should not be compromised.
The Emir did not only express desire for dialogue and solution, but also expressed willingness to walk ten thousand miles toward the brothers, if they walk one metre towards reconciliation.
It should be realised that the siege countries’ attempts to harm Qatar have been failed by the Qatari peoples’ cohesion with their leadership.
All the State bodies should now take the initiative to implement what was stated in the speech as soon as possible, transform its contents into reality and make it a platform for work during the next phase.
