The windy conditions are expected to intensify in the country on Monday, the Qatar Met department has said, while also reiterating its warning for offshore areas.
In a detailed report on Sunday, the weather office said most parts of Qatar are likely to experience strong winds on Monday along with poor visibility in some places due to dust. Similarly, strong winds and high seas have been forecast for offshore areas as well.
“Weather charts show stronger northwesterly windy conditions on Monday, while the wave height is expected to range from 5-8/12ft and the offshore wind speed from 18-25 knots, gusting to 32 knots,” the report said. The wind speed inshore is “expected to range from 12-22 knots, gusting to 27 knots”, which may result in blowing dust and a drop in visibility to below 2km during the day in some areas.
The marine warning will be cancelled by early tomorrow, the report points out.
The temperature, meanwhile, is likely to drop in different parts of the country, especially at night, when the minimum is expected to range from 15-20C in the central and southern areas.
Abu Samra is likely to see a minimum temperature of 15C today, while in Doha it will be 22C. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 27C to 29C in the country.
On Sunday, a minimum of 17C was recorded in Abu Samra and 24C in Doha.
The Met department has urged people to be cautious and avoid any marine activities during this period in view of the expected conditions.
