Qatar participated in the second meeting of Nato defence ministers on Afghanistan’s Resolute Support mission.
The meeting took place at Nato headquarters in Brussels on Thursday.
Qatar’s delegation was led by HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah. The meeting discussed the potential for supporting and developing the Resolute Support mission. It also discussed the contributions of the participating countries in the fund of the national Afghan army.
In a statement, the Minister of State for Defence Affairs said Qatar is committed to providing the necessary support to the mission through its military transport aircraft C17 and C30 of the Qatari Armed Forces. Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Qatar joining the Resolute Support mission.
