The Foreign Ministry has recently released a book authored by ambassador Ahmed Jassim al-Mulla celebrating 46 years since the establishment of the ministry and documenting the start and development of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry and its diplomatic and consular ties with other countries.
The book features images and information and the cover bears the facade of the old Foreign Ministry headquarters.
Comprising 730 pages, the book touches on the early days of the Qatari diplomacy and people who worked in the diplomatic corps from the beginning until the present and discusses their works and achievements through their work as department directors, ambassadors and consuls so as to preserve them through time and from one generation to another.
In its second chapter, the book carries information on the establishment of the Foreign Affairs Department and the Foreign Ministry.
The following chapters shed light on foreign ministers, ministers of state, undersecretaries, ministers who worked abroad, assistants, ambassadors and department directors.
The author also highlighted Qatar’s ambassadors abroad and the first diplomats who opened embassies, consuls abroad, ambassadors of countries and international organisations accredited to Qatar, and the curriculum vitae of ambassadors and consuls.
The last chapter of the book features a selected group of pictures of state dignitaries, ministers, ambassadors, department and bureau directors, and ambassadors to international and Arab organisations.
Ambassador al-Mulla expressed hope that the book will help in documenting and preserving information about the beginning of Qatari diplomacy, highlighting the political and diplomatic aspects of Qatar’s renaissance, being an incentive for future generations to complement and maintain what it has started, and documenting more about Qatari diplomacy in the future.
