The second leg of Hathab, Qatar’s new QR1mn showjumping series, will be held this Friday and Saturday at Al Shaqab’s Indoor Arena. The first of the 12-leg series was held on October 13th and 14th with smashing success.
A total of six competitions will be held this weekend too, with riders as young as 12 in action. In the opening leg, Hamad Nasser al-Qadi, astride SIEC Lonnie, had won the feature class. More riders are expected to be in action this weekend, as the competition gains popularity.
Hathab, meaning ‘Canter’ in Arabic, is an initiative launched by His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. The series, to be held either at Al Shaqab or Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arena, will be spread across seven months with the final leg to be conducted next April.
