Qatar
is set to start producing sportswear in the country by 2018,
Doha-resident Harish Chandra Bhandari told Qatar Urdu Radio’s live show
Haqeeqat yesterday.
“The raw material has been imported and the
production of goods will start in 2018. This will include all kinds of
sportswear such as jerseys, socks and innerwear,” Bhandari, who is a
civil engineer by profession, said.
“The target is to supply these
goods in the Middle East and European countries. But it also shows you
how Qatar will be self-sufficient in multiple sports related sectors
before the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” he added.
Haqeeqat, which aims to
engage and interact with the large South Asian expatriate community in
Qatar, is a joint venture of Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corporation Urdu
Radio.
It is broadcast from Sunday to Thursday on FM107. The show is
hosted by Saif-ur-Rehman. Log on to Qatar Urdu Radio on Facebook and
