A number of international consultants from various medical specialties will visit Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) this month, it has been announced.
One of the visiting consultants is Dr Fred Muhletaler Maggiolo, a fellowship-trained robotic urologist and oncologist and director, Robotic Urologic Surgery at Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee, Florida, US. He will visit HMC from October 9 to 16.
Others are Prof Alan Saber, chief of bariatric and minimally invasive general surgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Centre in Brooklyn, New York, US, who will visit from October 13 to 20; Dr Alexander Lyon, senior lecturer in cardiology at Imperial College London and consultant cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, England, UK, who will visit from October from 14 to 19; Prof James B Richardson, consultant orthopaedic surgeon and professor of orthopaedics from the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Oswestry, England, UK, who will visit from October 22 to 26; and Prof Christian Dumontier, a plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon located in Guadeloupe, France, will visit from October 28 to November 3.
Other experts are scheduled to visit throughout the remainder of the year as part of HMC’s focus on hosting highly-respected physicians and surgeons from around the world. Hosting visiting international consultants who are experts in their field is in line with HMC’s policy to provide specialised medical services to the people of Qatar, according to a press statement.
Members of the public wishing to book an appointment with one of the visiting consultants have been advised to discuss this option with their physician. If the doctor agrees that an appointment with a visiting consultant is appropriate, a referral will be provided.
