More than 100 Chinese companies are expected to join the ‘Made in China’ exhibition slated on November 16 to 19 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), Qatar Chamber announced yesterday.
Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani said the exhibition has attracted a wide range of Chinese companies “who are keen on displaying their products and latest innovations for Qatari investors despite the ongoing unjust siege imposed on Qatar.”
Sheikh Khalifa expressed hope that the third instalment of ‘Made in China’ “will result in building constructive partnerships and alliances that enable Chinese companies to enter the Qatari market.”
He also noted that the expo was “highly-acclaimed” during the first and second editions and led to the signing of several contracts and joint ventures among Qatari and Chinese companies.
‘Made in China’, which aims to enhance cooperation ties among Qatari and Chinese businessmen, takes advantage of Chinese expertise in industry, and to create a platform to build trade transactions between both countries.
Sheikh Khalifa also assured Qatar Chamber’s readiness to offer “all possible aid” to attract more investments to Qatar, “especially in sectors that offer added value to Qatar’s economy and go in line with the chamber’s support to the country’s strategy in relocating modern technology.”
He added that Qatar Chamber will assist Chinese companies in obtaining the required approvals and the necessary procedures to facilitate their introduction to the Qatari market. The Qatar Chamber chairman noted that it will continue to hold conferences and exhibitions that contribute to informing foreign investors on the Qatari market and bringing more investment to the country.
“Trade cooperation between the two countries increased in recent years as trade exchange reached QR20bn, and we expect it to grow more due to the launch of a direct marine route linking Hamad Port and some Chinese ports,” said Sheikh Khalifa, who added that Qatar Chamber will hold a press conference this week to promote the expo in the city of Dalian, China’s major centre for foodstuffs, building materials, and auto spare parts industries.
