Qatar Airways has announced it has doubled its frequency to a number of destinations in Eastern Europe and the Nordics.
This follows a “significant increase in passenger demand to the popular destinations of Prague, Warsaw and Helsinki”, the Doha-based carrier said in a press statement.
Commencing mid-December, the airline will introduce an extra daily flight on each of the routes to “meet the growing inbound and outbound travel demand” by adding an Airbus A320 service, offering an additional 132 daily seats in both directions.
The frequency increases, the latest in a number of such upgrades across the Qatar Airways route network, come just eight weeks after the airline launched its direct service to Prague, Czech Republic, on its first anniversary of scheduled service to Helsinki, Finland, and more than a year since the daily service to Warsaw, Poland, was upgraded to a wide-body Airbus A330 service, the statement notes.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker said: “Qatar Airways is delighted to facilitate this increase in passenger demand by doubling our daily frequencies to the popular destinations of Prague, Warsaw, and Helsinki.
“In line with our robust and expedited expansion plans, these increase in frequencies will provide even greater choice to our business and leisure passengers, who can connect seamlessly at Hamad International Airport onwards to more than 150 global destinations.”
Qatar Airways’ increase in frequency to Helsinki, announced on the first anniversary of the route, will now mean that the airline serves the Nordic capital cities of Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki with a total of 98 flights per week, to and from Hamad International Airport.
Alongside Helsinki’s current Boeing 787 service, the cities of Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo are also served with a fleet of Dreamliner aircraft.
The additional frequencies to Prague, Helsinki, and Warsaw will be operated by the Airbus A320, featuring 12 Business Class seats and 120 Economy Class seats, supplementing the current Airbus A320 service to Prague, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner service to Helsinki, and the Airbus A330 service to Warsaw.
Passengers travelling in Business Class can look forward to “relaxing in one of the most comfortable and high-tech, fully-flat beds” as well as avail of the five-star food and beverage service, which is served “dine on demand”, the statement adds.
Passengers can also enjoy the airline’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system, Oryx One, offering up to 4,000 entertainment options.
The new schedule for services to Prague, Warsaw and Helsinki are as follows: QR289 departing Doha (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) at 2.30am and arriving in Prague at 6.55am, and QR291 departing Doha (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) at 8am and arriving in Prague at 12.25pm; QR290 departing Prague (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) at 8.25am and arriving in Doha at 4.25pm, and QR292 departing Prague (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) at 4.10pm and arriving in Doha at 12.10am; QR261 departing Doha (daily) at 4pm and arriving in Warsaw at 8pm, and QR262 departing Warsaw (daily) at 9.10pm and arriving in Doha at 4.50am; QR307 departing Doha (daily) at 4pm and arriving in Helsinki at 9.45pm, and QR308 departing Helsinki at 10.55pm and arriving in Doha at 6.15am.
